The Fakarava atoll is not only one of the best scuba diving or Freediving spearfishing place, it is also a wonderful vacation place for the ones who love a preserved nature. On the 27th Oct 2006 Fakarava atoll was elected as UNESCO BIOSPHERE natural RESERVE.
The Tuamotus or the Tuamotu Archipelago are a chain of atolls in French Polynesia and the largest chain of atolls in the world, spanning an area of the Pacific Ocean roughly the size of Western Europe.
The place we stayed at, Tetamanu Village, is at the south gate of the atoll. We had to take a one hour boat trip to get there. The current was super strong and changed two times a day, in going and out going. The hats were basic, with salt-sweet water showers and nearly no electricity. The diving was the best I ever experienced. Hundreds of sharks and fish all over with cristal clear water. A dream.
